Crossing the Hellespont
To cross the Hellespont was once my goal.
Only through adventure could I be whole,
Or so I thought, in my unknowing mind;
The truth about myself was hard to find.
More than any juvenile test of skill,
I have determined how to guide my will
So that the ones I love are spoken for,
Receiving my allegiance and much more.
To everyone indeed I would be kind,
Discovering what goodness, heart and mind,
Resides in our communal character;
But from my family I would not stir.
