The Advantages of Inexperience
The minds of the young are open to
The unexamined moment--
So much of what they witness
Comes to them
Unknown, free of preconceptions.
Those who have their lexicons of prior experience
Consult the past
When faced with fresh developments.
Perhaps they gain advantage from their brittle pages,
Foreseeing what will be
Before it has arrived.
But I would find the thrill
Of some new taste or smell
A cause for celebration of the singular event.
