Information for New Faculty and Staff

Congratulations on your new position at USF. We’ve outlined a variety of on-campus resources and services to help you navigate the university during your first week. 

New Hire Documentation

Please drop off all completed new hire documentation to the Human Resources (HR) office (Lone Mountain 339) by your first day:

Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9)
Employee Withholding Form (W-4)
CA State DE-4 Withholding Form
USF Direct Deposit Form
USF Voluntary Self ID Form
USF Employee Data and Emergency Contact Form
Background Check Disclosure and Authorization Form**

*In compliance with the rules and regulations of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, USF only employs United States citizens or other individuals who have the legal right to work in the United States. On your first day of work, or within 3 business days, all employees must complete a Department of Homeland Security Form I-9 and provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. If you have previously worked at the University (within the last three years), you do not need to submit a new I-9, unless the I-9 form you submitted is no longer valid.

**Please note: employment at the University of San Francisco is contingent on successfully completing a background check. Once you have submitted the authorization form to Human Resources, you will receive an email from HireRight on behalf of the University to complete a background check. Please complete the instructions on the email from HireRight to begin the background check process. HR Orientations

Please visit the Employment and Benefits Orientations webpage for details and to RSVP to the following orientations: 

Benefits Orientation provides eligible faculty and staff with an overview of all benefits options available at the university. Benefit enrollment forms must be submitted to Human Resources within 30 days of your hire date.

Employment Orientation introduces new staff to important university policies, programs, and forms and processes that must be completed within the first few days and weeks of employment.

The University Welcome is a quarterly presentation that introduces new staff to the university's vision, mission, values, history, and extended community.

Note: The Provost's office also conducts orientations specifically for new faculty

Getting Connected


One Card

After submitting your new hire documentation, you will receive instructions on obtaining your One Card, USF's official campus ID card. For more information, visit the One Card office at Lone Mountain Main 130, call (415) 422-7663, or email onecard@usfca.edu.

myUSF and Email

Prior to your first day, you will receive log-in instructions for myUSF, USF's intranet, which includes access to email, self-service tools, and important announcements and events. If you do not have access, please contact ITS at (415) 422-6668.


Getting Paid


Visit the Payroll office at Lone Mountain North, 3rd floor or call (415) 422-5743 for details about the payroll calendar, time sheets, and leave reports.

Getting Help


  • Visit Public Safety for information about what to do in an emergency or to report suspicious persons.

  • Visit Facilities Management for information about building and grounds maintenance.

  • The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), offered by CONCERN, provides confidential and professional assistance to eligible faculty and staff, dependents and/or others living in the household. Confidential services are available for a wide range of personal matters.
