Dena Davis, Ed.D.
Assistant Dean and Director



Dena joined Academic Support Services in 1990 with a background in Career counseling and job placement and a Master's in Soical Welfare from UC Berkeley.  She completed her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in USF's School of Education in 1997. She started the Academic Survival Skills workshop, a one-unit time management and study skills course that later evolved into the current  College Success I Course, as well as the Career Exploration course she still enjoys teaching.  When she is not teaching, planning New Student Orientation, helping students, or assisting in planning the new Center for Academic and Student Achievement, Dena can be found running after her new puppy and active tween daughter.

Charlene P. Lobo Soriano, Ed.D.

Charlene is a native San Franciscan, received her BA in French from UC Davis, received her MS in Counseling from San Francisco State University, and her Ed.D. in International and Multicultural Education from USF. She loves music, reading, and art, but more importantly loves her family. As the Associate Director for Academic Support Services, Charlene is responsible for First Year Student Services. She works with first year students, their families as well as faculty and staff to help facilitate the transition of the first year as well as serve as a resource. She enjoys meeting new students and families during Orientation as well as during the school year.

Coordinator of the Learning Center 

Kim is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Retail Merchandising from Ohio University, and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Miami University. Working in the Learning Center, Kim’s greatest joy is regularly interacting with students and helping them take steps to achieve their goals. In her free time, Kim enjoys knitting, reading, watching movies, and exploring the city.


Kimberly Harris

Kimberly graduated from Boston University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and received her Masters degree in International and Multicultural Education at USF in 2011. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Kimberly spent three years teaching English in Japan and enjoys working with students of various backgrounds and cultures. Her interests include all things international, from eating various cuisines to traveling around the world. She also enjoys being outside with her husband and dog, taking in all the beautiful nature in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
