Leading a community of scholars toward a future of service and excellence

USF’s leadership team, led by Rev. Stephen A. Privett, S.J., is deeply committed to giving students and faculty the best tools available to realize USF’s mission of bettering the world.

As articulated in the 2028 plan, USF has identified five areas of focus — Jesuit Catholic tradition, academic excellence, our San Francisco location, diversity, and a global perspective. These five strengths, and their integration into the fabric of campus life, set USF apart.

With Father Privett unanimously approved for his third term as USF president, we are confident that USF will remain an academic and cultural leader in San Francisco and the world.

University Leadership

Fr. Stephen A. Privett, USF's 27th President

USF President Stephen A. Privett, S.J., has recently been signed to a third five-year term which will begin in September, 2010. A native of San Francisco, Fr. Privett began his tenure as the 27th president of the University of San Francisco on September 15, 2000.

Prior to his appointment at USF, Father Privett served as provost and academic vice president at Santa Clara University. As provost, he was responsible for oversight of student life, intercollegiate athletics, as well as academic affairs.

Throughout his career, Father Privett has demonstrated a commitment to “wholeperson education,” a traditional hallmark of Jesuit education. At Santa Clara, he helped establish the Eastside Project, a program that has received national recognition as a model program for community-based learning.

Keeping Faith With Students

The University of San Francisco has launched “Keeping Faith with Students,” a scholarship drive to assure our students that they can count on the amount of financial aid awarded to them at the time of their admission. The response to this important fundraising drive has been impressive with more than $800,000 raised thus far.
